Chelf and her DH were here in Denver over the weekend and stayed with me and my family. We had a good time getting to know each other better. Chelf and I stayed up until 4 a.m. this morning discussing life, church issues, family, and friends. We did some touristy things while they were here . We visited the Colorado State Capitol Building at 10 lastnight. The pic above is them sitting by the step that reads, “One mile above see level”. We rode the entire line of the Free Mall Ride up and down the 16th Street Mall, and this morning we toured Celestial Seasonings in Boulder. But my favorite activity of the weekend was meeting some blogging friends at Starbucks yesterday afternoon.

Paula, Niki, Heather, Jan, and Chelf

L-R is Paula, Me, Heather, Jan, and Chelf. I was happy to introduce Chelf to our blogging girlfriends she hadn’t met yet. Her DH came with us too, but we asked him to play the part of the photographer for our chick pics. We talked and laughed and shared chocolate…some of the best things in life, right Jan? πŸ˜‰ We even entertained the people around us, which tends to happen when we get together. We also discussed what the proper name was for the person who does your hair – assuming you go somewhere to get your hair done. So, weigh in on the subject for me…

The person who does your hair is a:

  1. Hairdresser
  2. Beautician
  3. Stylist
  4. Barber

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think. There is technically no wrong answer, BUT your answer may date you…as in determine if you’re young & hip or an old gray hair. πŸ™‚ lol I’m kidding.

Updates

Just a quick reminder for those of you interested in the drawing for the free book. Today (Thursday) is the last day to put your name in the hat. Friday morning one of my children will draw a lucky winner. So leave me a comment or email me if you’re interested.

The air date for the episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition featuring my friend Kim and her family is quickly approaching. I’m not able to tell you exactly what it is yet (other than it’s in January) or whether or not it is a 1 or 2 hour show. I just want to keep it in the back of your mind. They still need our continued prayers. If you missed my post about the reveal of the house, you can read it here. I’ve been getting a lot of traffic (pun intended) from the people at FORD. I had to leave a comment on that post updating the info. about the car they received. The car pictured is a 2009 Ford Flex, which the family didn’t end up keeping. I don’t know the details surrounding that decision by the show, Ford, or whoever made it. But, they were able to go to a dealership in Colorado Springs and choose a vehicle of their choice. They have a beautiful new Ford Expedition instead of the Flex. Either way, I’m thrilled for them…and FORD rocks!

Many of you have requested a Christmas list from me and I wanted to let you know that I’m working on it. LOL I’m kidding. I just wanted to make you smile. If you do decide to get me something…I’d like World Peace please…I already have my two front teeth. πŸ˜‰

I have quite an extensive collection of quotes by various famous people, my favorite authors, and my quirky friends. When I was in college, it was “the thing to do” to hang quotes on your dorm room door. Even then I was surrounded by friends who loved the written word as much as I did. I decided to share a few of my favorite quotes of late. Enjoy!

“In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins – not by strength but by perseverance.” ~H. Jackson Brown

“Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.” ~Ronald E. Osborn

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” ~Berthold Auerbach

“Reading furnishes the mind only with material for knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.” ~John Locke

“It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” ~J.K. Rowling

“If you make people think they’re thinking, they’ll love you; But if you really make them think, they’ll hate you. ~Don Marquis

“But to become a freak one needs a strong character and unusual determination.” ~George Burchett, Memoirs of a Tattooist.

“The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.” ~Elbert Hubbard

The big day arrived and after much hassle, the Princess boarded her flying coach and made her way towards the royal family and her fears. With a stop off to see one of her favorite Princes and Mall of America, she was feeling strong and ready to handle whatever might happen at the royal wedding.

The tension in the King’s palace was evident though everyone was glad to see the Princess again. There was much to do and the Princess enjoyed the last minute preparations with the King. The wedding day arrived…and it was raining. The bride-to-be was frantic, but the Princess was able to reassure her that there were several hours before the wedding and plenty of time for the grass to dry at the country club for the pictures. Which it did. (Thank God!) The wedding was beautiful as was the bride and all of her maidens. (Two of the four were the Princess’ sisters-in-law.) The Princess sang her heart out and made the bride cry. The princes served in their roles well, and the King beamed as he watched his last child be married off. The wonderful step-queen was gracious and loving to all.

Then came the tension. Pictures. The royal photographer was a jovial man and he allowed the Princess to take some of her own pictures as well telling her which angles were best, etc. The evil-ex-step queen made a big deal out of getting pictures with HER children only with the bride and groom. She was standing right next to the Princess while she said it. 😦 The Princess ignored her and tried not to explode. There were other tense moments throughout the day, but the Princess smiled on and did her best to support her beautiful bride little sister. Here are a few pictures of the royal family – not taken by the photographer. He’s a professional afterall!

All in all, the Princess’ time with the royal family went well. The evil-ex-step-queen turned out to be less of a threat than the Princess had worried about. She deserves her name, but no more than a passing mention in the story of this Princess. πŸ™‚

The Royal Family including King Don and his wonderful Queen Shari, The Bride and Groom – Princess Marcia and Prince Sam, and the sweetest little princess of all…Katelyn. Princess Sarah (3), Princess Kerstin (8), and Prince Gage (5) were off playing somewhere when this was taken . πŸ˜‰ And of course the Princess’ family was in Colorado and missed the whole thing.

The cutest little princess – Princess Katelyn.

The Princess Story is far from over, but this is the close of this chapter. There were experiences both painful and exhilarating while the Princess was in the kingdom of her youth. It has been a lot to process and is too much to share here. The Princess would be happy to share more details with anyone interested. Thanks to all who read this story and prayed for the ending to be a happy one!
