I’ve been in bed for two days with what I assume is the flu. I’m feeling well enough to blog, so I must be o.k. I just had a few thoughts rumbling around in my head and thought I’d share them with the cyberworld.
Today is Friday, January 20th ie. opening day for End of the Spear. I hope some of you went or are going to see it. I look forward to going sometime in the next few weeks. If you want a teaser or more info. about the movie, check out www.endofthespear.com
Benny and I watched War of the Worlds lastnight. Not a bad movie – but glad it was a rental. Tonight was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Some of my friends have been less than impressed with this newer version. I say if Johnny Depp is in it, I’ll watch it! Besides, I had nothing to compare it to never having seen the original. Was I deprived as a child? Not really, I saw The Wizard of OZ atleast 275 times – I think that makes up for it. But back to the movie…I am happy to say that we enjoyed it and laughed quite a bit. Also a good rental, and one I’d watch again. Max was disappointed about not watching it with us, but we wanted to view it first to see if we thought it was o.k. for him to watch. We gave it a thumbs up, so I’ll watch it again tomorrow with him while the other two are napping. Tim Burton is a strange bird, but his creative genius intrigues me.
I am once again thankful for modern technology. My new friend Peach and I spent an hour and a half chatting on the phone today. We’ve never met, and never talked – only knowing each other through blogging and a few emails. We are kindred spirits in so many ways and I finally made the time to call her. She has such a sweet and friendly voice and we hit it off right away. She has been such an encouragement to me, and I look forward to a long friendship with her. Maybe we’ll even meet one day. 😉 We are a half a country away from each other, but distance never hinders true friendship. Cheers to you Peach!
I’m glad tomorrow is Saturday. I like Saturdays. No thrifty shopping tomorrow though. Just the chai and a day spent relaxing so I’m well enough to go to worship with my church family at The Journey on Sunday. I hope you all have a great weekend! God bless you!
Enjoyed chatting with you, too, Niki! Thanks for being the bright spot in my day amidst cleaning, laundry and wiping faces.
Thanks, too, for the review of Charlie . . . I might actually rent it now.
My dh wanted me to go to End of the Spear tonight without him. I chose a long shower and a quiet evening with him instead. : )

Hubby and I saw End of the Spear. WOW! Do get out and see it if at all possible! Don’t expect to leave without your heart being challenged and awed as to how God can work mightily in situations that seem utterly devastating and tragic. INCREDIBLE! I have known the story for many years but to see it played out… beyond words.

I really liked the new version of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.” It stayed pretty true to the book, whereas the first one (with Gene Wilder) really strayed from the original story.

Glad you are feeling better, it is the pits to be sick (doubly hard when you are mom!) I knew you probably were sick since you had not blogged for a day or two. We really liked “Charlie” and even found a reviewed version for $2. so I bought it for my daughter. It was definitely darker than the old version but in some ways a little less weird! Tim Burton is a very interesting person and Johnny Depp is just off the charts. Hope you get all rested so you can enjoy worship tomorrow. Blessings!

I have a fond childhood attachment to “Willy Wonka” with Gene Wilder. But I also have an adulthood attachment to Johnny Depp, so went ahead and saw “Charlie.” Definitely quirky in that Tim Burton way, but it wasn’t a bad way to pass the time. Looking forward to “End of the Spear,” even if on Netflix in a few months. I just don’t get out much!

Looking forward to End of the Spear, but still waiting to rent Beyond the Gates of Splendor. I’ll let ya know.
War of the worlds…ahhh memories…let’s just say dinner and a movie with heath and ray…
As far as the Chocolate Factory…I was never a big fan of the first movie…I was always creeped out by Willy Wonka! And then when this came out, JD did a good job reminding me of that fact! I don’t know…call me crazy, but I feel like I’m gonna sit this one out for a while longer!
I love that about miss Peach…did I ever tell you about my friend Amanda in Nashville…I have a friend when i move out there! Yay!She goes to Otter Creek.
Hope you get to feeling better! Love you.
