I suppose this post will ruffle some feathers. It has been copied from my friend Jeff’s blog. I appreciate him sharing it. I welcome feedback, but please be respectful. I’ve read way too many overheated comments this week on other blogs. Here it is:
A Different Take on the War on Terror
Melanie Morgan, a radio talk show host on San Francisco’s KSFO, visited Iraq recently, conducting interviews and talking with the troops. The San Francisco Chronicle had promised to run her written account of the experience upon her return. The paper reneged (I suppose her article didn’t fit their agenda). Melanie’s take is quite different from what you hear day-to-day in the Mainstream Media. After reading this, it really angers me when I hear Cindy Sheehan say that the deaths of our brave soldiers over there are “meaningless.” Is she not spitting on her own son’s grave when she says that? Read the article here.
Hey! I miss being at Zenith too. For some crazy reason, Richard thinks high schoolers are beyond my scope as children’s minister. I think y’all should come to Impact! I think they’re actually gonna let me teach again… 😉

I’m not exactly sure what I’d be labeled; maybe a type of pacifist would come close. I’m not sure what to think of this war, of our other wars, especially as a follower of Jesus.
I don’t keep up with the news of what’s going on over there; it seems so depressing. I read that beautiful ariticle and I’m still not sure what my thoughts about the war is. But my appreciation for those men and women continues to grow. My respect for them is so high. And I’m so glad to read pieces like this. I need it.

Great post Niki! I have a URL on my blog showing exactly why we are at war. Check it out. In fact I wish more bloggers would post it. It puts this war into perspective.
I am a Christian too. I hate war, but sometimes it is necessary in order that we can live and worship without fear.
All one has to do is read the Bible, Our Heavenly Father commanded His people to go into city’s and destroy every living thing.
Murder is wrong, killing is not the same as murder.
We go to war to defend our country, our values and our faith. Without these we have nothing.
The men and women who are over there doing our share as well as their own cannot be applauded enough. God be with them.

Thanks for your thoughts Adam & Mountain Mama. I know this is a tough subject to talk about. I don’t know if there is a 100% right or wrong answer. I’m going to post a bit more about it.
