The big reveal of Kim’s new house is at 2 p.m. this Sunday afternoon in Colorado Springs. It pays to have friends in high places that can hopefully save you a spot since you’ll get there very shortly before the family is due to arrive. ๐ Doing this with three kiddos in tow will be interesting, but I’m armed with stuff to keep them occupied while we stand around waiting. The episode air date hasn’t been announced yet, so I’ll get back to you on that one.
I have a list of questions to ask Kim after things calm down. Questions like…What do they do with all of your stuff while they’re building? Did you cry a lot during filming? If not, how did you remain calm? How detailed did you get to be in your requests of what you’d wish for? What’s it like talking to Ty on the phone? How did your neighbors handle all the extra traffic/noise in the middle of the night? When will the house tours begin? lol
How about you? Do you have any questions for Kim and her family? Leave me a comment or email me and I’ll ask them for you…as soon as she can breathe again. ๐
What a blessing for them. I can’t wait to hear more.

When we lived in CA, they did a rebuild in our town. My company took snacks out to the workers every day, so a bunch of us headed out there for the reveal. It was my first taste of “reality” TV. Ty ran past us a million times telling us to yell and cheer, but that was hours before the family got there…on the show, it showed us cheering and then the family driving up. It was weird.
I’d like to know how long the filming of seeing the house actually takes…I think it’s FOREVER!
I can’t wait to watch the show…it’s so much more fun when you have a connection to the family. Where did they go for their vacation?
I can’t wait to read your posting about the reveal and your chat with Kim!

I will be most interested to see what room was Ty’s special room in the house? He puts a lot of thought and work into each of his “secret” rooms.
I know their family has lots of special needs. I would love to know how they plan to keep the A/C running all summer long at 65, when it is 90+ outside, without the A/C freezing up? Maybe instead of setting up college funds for the kids, they can just pay the electric bills for the rest of Kayla’s life?
I bet she will need more help writing all the thank-you notes than anything else. I look forward to seeing all of this from Kim’s perspective, as well as yours!

What do they do with all the family’s stuff? Do they put it in storage and then the family can go through it later? I will look for you and your family waving in the crowd!

My name is Shannon. My husband Scott and I were active volunteers on this project and were VIP’s on the show. I have about 300 candid photos of the construction and of the volunteers and look forward to sharing them with the community and all those who wish to see them. My husband was the lead plumber on the site and I helped the plumbing crew as well as some of the appliance instalation. It was such an honor to be a part of a wonderful cause. my husband worked so hard on this home and when the Woodhouse family arrived in the limo we all burst into tears. I have recently left a blog on Kims myspace account and would love her to contact me for a copy of the photos. I realize that she must be overwhelmed with contacts from the community, however, if you plan on speaking with Kim, please let her know that I’m looking forward to hearing from her. Kayla and her family will remain in our prayers. We can’t wait to see the show air in January. If anyone would like to see some photos of the project…email me at coloradodove@msn.com God Bless, Shannon

My name is Mary Stephens. I was blessed to be the Woodhouse’s realtor in Alaska, and was honored to become an offical family member (I have the certificate to prove it!). They are an amazing family and I’m so happy that they were chosen to receive this beautiful home.
Kim & Jeremy have given so selflessly to so many; I can’t imagine anyone more deserving.
Please give all of them my love. I’ll continue to pray for Kayla (do you still have your Big Bear?) and keep them close to my heart. Mary & Ron

As a special education teacher in the state of NH, I am very surprised that the state of Colorado does not have madates that require schools to meet the needs of children with special needs. If Kayla lived in NH , she would be provided with a temperature controlled classroom, an education assistant and/or any other needs she would require so that she could be educated in the least restrictive environment, ie; her neighborhood school.

I understand your concern and while I don’t know about Colorado’s mandates, I would be surprised that any school would be able to provide a temp controlled classroom for one student. I would assume that taxpayer dollars are spent in more needed spaces. Besides, Kayla would not be able to leave that classroom for lunch, recess, or any other activities to be involved with everyone else in her school. I think the least restrictive environment is the comforts of her own home. She does get to socialize if that is another concern.
Barbara, thank you so much for what you do. One of my best friends from high school is a special ed teacher. You’re a blessing to many!
