We spent the morning packing up the tree, lights, decorations and all of the stockings. Everything is neatly stored until next year. I know a lot of people leave decorations up until after New Year’s Day, but Pete’s birthday is Friday and I want him to have a celebration all of his own. I can’t believe he’s going to be 3 years old. Time really does fly. I’m about to leave to pick Angi up at the airport. Everything is beginning to melt around here…just in time for the snow we’re supposed to get on Thursday. 😉 I hope we don’t get too much- we’re supposed to go to Benny’s parent’s house for a few days.
I finished reading ERAGON lastnight. Wow! It was awesome and I’m eager to get the second book , THE ELDEST. My friend’s kids that have seen the ERAGON movie have been disappointed with it. They read the book first and the movie didn’t live up to their expectations. I’ll probably see the movie anyway, but I’m already setting myself up to be disappointed. How sad is that? I’m telling you people…the book is always better. The ONLY exception I can think of right now is The Polar Express…that movie rocked, and in my opinion, was better than the book. Can you think of another book that’s been made into a movie, where the movie was better than the book? Bring it on…I’m listening.
I know that the two books are great, and I am eagerly awaiting the third (rumored to be named Empire, but he isn’t done writing it, so we don’t know). Go to alagaesia.com. There you can see the whole scoop of Eragon adventures, and other stuff about the author, future book, and fan stuff.
I have the board game of Eragon… and my friend Genny, who has the book on CD and listens to it all the time, was growling at the cards in the game…”That’s not the way it happened!” So yes, take it with a grain of salt. I have not seen it yet, but I REALLY want to. I may just wait until it hits our $1 theatre. On a Tuesday, then it is only $0.50.
I agree whole-heartedly that the book is better than movie. Always. Some movies come close, but never are just right. Kinda like “Congo” I think Eragon will only share the title with the book. And that is sad.

The Pride and Prejudice BBC mini-series is the closest it gets I think. Of course it took them 5 (6?) hours to pull out the depth you get in the book, LOL.
The older kids did complain about Eragon, but we took the whole family this week and we all enjoyed it. The older two liked it better the second go round–once they let go of all they’d missed from the book . .. The younger two loved it. I liked it, but it wasn’t the book, of course. The hardest critic is my oldest, but then again her imagination doesn’t stop.

O.K. Paula – you’re totally right. The BBC version rocks and is better than the book. However, the book is better than the NEW version of the movie.;)

I keep hearing about Eragon, I need to go read it!
I just saw Tristan and Isolde, and loved it so I wanted to see the original story, and looked online and found that the movie is really not much like the story at all : (

I’m pretty sure that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was actually better as a movie (not as long winded, etc) but I could be proven wrong! Merry New Year!

I wouldn’t say the movie The Bourne Identity was better than the book, too much info in the written than can be displayed on the screen, but it was just as enjoyable as reading it. Now the sequel, The Bourne Supremacy, was good, but a dissappointment. The only thing resembling the book was the title and first 2 minutes. It was very frustrating to watch, but I have seen it many times since then (I own it and exercise to it on my gazelle). I can enjoy their story, once I let go of the plot from the books. I sometimes get so into it, that I find myself running–huge feat for me! Action and suspense are certainly better for a workout than something like Steel Magnolias. I have used that before, but it wasn’t that good.
