I still covet your prayers for my family and all that is taking place in the next 10 days. I’ll have some catching up to do after the retreat. I’ll be checking email so I’ll receive any comments left here or on the S, L, and M blog, I just won’t be able to respond until September 11th.
I leave you with two thoughts – one for parents and one for everyone…
Our family has a parenting practice that has saved us from much arguing and stress in the decision-making process. I have three children and each of them are “the leader” twice a week. Max gets Mondays and Thursdays, Zoe has Tuesdays and Fridays, and Pete’s the leader on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Sunday Benny is the leader! 😉 Whoever is the leader for the day gets to make the major decisions like who gets to sit where for meals (they tend to fight over sitting next to me ;)), what videos get watched, which books to read during story time, etc. They also get to be first in whatever we do that day. The biggest honor in their eyes? They get their name drawn on the big dry erase board in our dining room which doubles as our classroom for school. The kids see being the leader as an honor and they don’t argue about the petty stuff because they know if it’s not their turn, it will be soon and they’ll be the decision maker for the day. I shared this recently with a friend and thought someone here might benefit from it.
And the thought for everyone? My friend Shay sent these quotes to me. It’s part of her email signature and I thought it was cool, and thought provoking. Blessings to you friends!
“Some wish to live within the sound of church or chapel
bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell.” ~ C.T. Studd“All the persons of faith I know are sinners, doubters, uneven performers. We are secure not because we are sure of ourselves but because we trust that God is sure of us.” ~ Eugene Peterson
I am sorry again about Girly. I know it will sting for a while. At least you all will still get to see her every once in a while. She won’t forget you either.
Blessings as you jump in with both feet, and good luck ;p I hope all goes well for you. We will miss you on the blogosphere.

I love your “leader” idea, Niki. I’m definitely going to keep that one in mind as the kiddos get older.
Go get ’em this week as you prepare for the big speaking engagement. I’ve been and will continue to pray that God will speak specific truth through you to the women who attend the retreat next weekend.
You are going to be great!!! I look forward to hearing ALL about it.
