One of the songs we sang today at BSF is a song that I could and probably should sing everyday. It’s called “Cleanse Me” and begins like this: (The bold lines are my favorite)
Search me O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.
But, it’s the second verse that I claim as my own:
I praise thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.
The third is good too:
Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.
I could feel the crescendo coming when I belted out the last verse:
O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival, start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessing now, O Lord, I humbly plead.
I learned that song about ten years ago from David Branson, a man at our church in Buena Vista. He taught it to me so I could sing the soprano line for a quartet he was forming. It took me ONCE, and I knew it from that moment on. To this day when my family visits that church and David is leading singing – he chooses this song. I’m sure you can see why I love it so much.
God is so gracious to keep it in front of me…my need to be cleansed…and the means to be so.

Your comments in this post really “top off nicely” what you’ve been writing about of late!
Each time I click on your blog another song comes to mind, especially the phrase: There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place…
BTW, when I was “growing up” in Oklahoma in the 60’s – 70’s, my family vacationed in and around Buena Vista almost yearly. My wife and I spent several days of our honeymoon there (on our way to Vail) in ’79.
May God continue to tap out His message of healing grace through your fingertips!
