I finally saw NARNIA. WOW! Fantastic! Incredible! Amazing! I laughed…I cried…It moved me Bob! (little tribute to Veggie Tales there) Seriously, this is a must see. Benny and I took Max to see it on New Years Day. We had a great date, though it was a little strange to think that the last time it was just the three of us at a movie, he was our only child. Now he’s growing up and wants his own snacks and drinks instead of just sharing with us. However, he offered me his very last skittle with a tempting, “It’s red mommy…” My sweet boy!
There were so many lines from the movie that stick out in my mind that it’s hard to pick my favorite. I can’t believe anyone ever compared Narnia to the LOTR. It’s all about story my friends and one is NOT better than the other! That would be like me saying my story is better than yours, or yours is more important than mine. NONSENSE! We all have our part to play in this battle (which I believe life is) and there are no minor characters. But God calls us to be valiant and put away our toys for the tools He wills us to use. There have been enough books written that detail the “Christ parables” in these two movies (and books) so I’ll spare you my feeble attempts at a review. Just please hear me when I say both movies are worth seeing, and both stories are rich with Christ’s truth. I love it!
Benny and Robbie had the opportunity to take a few of the street kids to see Narnia yesterday. A few more will be going with Matt and Nikki on Thursday. Please pray for their eyes to see and their ears to hear the message of God’s truth and love. Seeds were planted when they all went to see The Polar Express a few weeks ago. Matt had a great blog post about it. Since I haven’t figured out how to link to certain posts yet (time to call Yoda again) you’ll have to scroll down until you get to “Seeing is Believing”.
BTW, I’m glad we took Max to see Narnia. He covered his eyes for the whole stone table scene, and the wolf jumping at Edmond. He did great, and I’m glad we were able to be with him when he saw the example of bravery in Peter, friendship in Lucy and Mr. Tumnus, the loyalty in Susan, and the forgiveness for Edmond. There are so many lessons he took away and more await him when he is older and has a deeper understanding of Christ’s sacrifice for us. Praise God for C.S. Lewis and the people who worked so hard to make this film. I look forward to more…
We all just loved it!
I hope there are more from the series–and with the way this one is making $$$–I think there will be!

It was great wasn’t it?
And also a late happy birthday to Petey!
*I got Max’s message on my cell the other night, it was just precious. He was so cute! I have it saved.

Guess it is confession time, after my rant about being a responsible parent and censoring what my child watches, we did take our 8 year old to see Narnia. (In my defense, My husband did a turn about on me and changed his mind about taking her) I thought okay, you are the one who will have to deal with her nightmares, so if you don’t mind neither do I. When we got to the movies (which was my first experience with open captioning–very useful to me!) my daughter curled up into a ball and said “I want to go home” and I thought yeah there is $20 down the drain, but she did fine (I think the war scenes freaked her out a bit) and had no nightmares. It is a beautiful movie with a beautiful message, I hope that many people are moved to see it and examine their lives because of it. I am happy to say that on this subject I was wrong! Still stand by the No Harry Potter Rule Though!
